The study investigated the relationship between Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies and employee performance among the healthcare workers in Somolu Primary Healthcare Centres, Lagos State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study examined the relationship between training and task completion, and between performance appraisal and employee teamwork. A correlational survey research design was adopted, comprising 108 healthcare workers across 11 Primary Health Centres, and a census sampling approach was employed to include all members of the population. Primary data were collected through a structured, closed-ended questionnaire and analysed using Pearson's Product-Moment Correlation. The results revealed a strong positive and statistically significant relationship between training and task completion (r= 0.707, p < 0.001). Similarly, performance appraisal demonstrated a strong positive and statistically significant relationship with employee teamwork (r= 0.675, p < 0.001). The study concludes that appropriate training improves employees' knowledge, skills, competencies and confidence, contributing to effective task completion, while fair, transparent, and regular performance appraisal enhances communication, cooperation, and teamwork among healthcare workers. The study recommends that healthcare management should provide continuous, job-related training and adopt fair, transparent, and constructive performance appraisal systems to promote task completion, foster teamwork and improve healthcare service delivery.
