The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the landscape of digital storytelling, reshaping how narratives are created, shared, and experienced across various digital platforms. From automated content generation and interactive storytelling to virtual reality experiences and personalized narratives, AI has become an influential creative partner in media production, education, entertainment, journalism, marketing, and cultural preservation. This paper examines the evolving relationship between digital storytelling and artificial intelligence, focusing on how AI influences creativity, communication, and human experience. Using a qualitative review of existing literature, the study explores the historical evolution of storytelling, the emergence of AI-powered narrative systems, and the opportunities and challenges associated with AI-assisted creativity. The paper also discusses ethical concerns, including algorithmic bias, misinformation, copyright ownership, authenticity, and the changing role of human creators. Findings suggest that while AI enhances efficiency, personalization, and audience engagement, human imagination, emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and ethical judgment remain indispensable components of meaningful storytelling. The study concludes that the future of storytelling lies in collaborative intelligence, where humans and AI work together to produce innovative, inclusive, and emotionally resonant narratives.
