The question of whether the US movement against the Vietnam War helped shorten and end the war has preoccupied activists and scholars alike. In this March 2025 webinar, five US‐based analysts argue that the movement constrained the Johnson and Nixon administrations in their conduct of the war and thus helped end US military actions in Vietnam. Presentations discuss the anti‐draft movement, GI dissent, connections between the Pentagon Papers and Watergate, the mass Nixon‐era antiwar demonstrations, and Tom Hayden's political evolution and significance. A Vietnamese scholar comments on how the US antiwar movement gave hope to Vietnamese resisting American military intervention.
