Ferrocenealdehyde have been condensed with some amines giving the corresponding Schiff bases. Cyclocondensation reaction of chloroacetylchloride (or thioglycolic acid) on ferrocenyl Schiff bases yielded ferrocenyl-β-lactams and ferrocenylthiazolidinones.
