The chloroplast genome of Bupleurum chinense has been previously reported from North China (Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Hebei provinces), but no chloroplast genome data were available from the northeastern part of its distribution range. High-throughput genome sequencing technology was conducted on Bupleurum chinense from Northeast China. The complete chloroplast genome was assembled and annotated, followed by phylogenetic analysis using the maximum likelihood method. The results show that the chloroplast genome is 155,932 bp in length, with a GC content of 37.7%. The complete chloroplast genome contains 114 unique genes, including 80 protein-coding, 30 tRNA, and 4 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic tree indicates that the sample in this study (PV989638) was closely clustered with the previously published B. chinense data (NC_046774), supporting high sequence similarity between these two accessions. This study provides an additional chloroplast genome from Northeast China that can facilitate comparative genomics and evolutionary studies within the genus Bupleurum. The high sequence similarity between the two accessions is consistent with expected intraspecific plastome conservation. However, this study is based on a single individual from a single locality, and the assembly was reference-guided using NC_046774, which may influence comparisons with that reference.
