The article examines the role of digital communications (video calls, secure messaging and media files, distance learning) as a tool for maintaining socially useful connections and professional development of convicts in isolation. It is proved that maintaining diverse social ties (with relatives, friends, mentors) and obtaining professional competencies are key factors of re-socialization. A comparative analysis of traditional and digital communication and learning formats has been carried out. The main conditions of convicts, which are influenced by maintaining social ties and professional development, are systematized. Digital forms of communication and distance learning are not an alternative, but an addition to traditional formats, compensating for their key disadvantages. The most significant advantage of digital communications, from the point of view of re-socialization, is the possibility of regular contact with various subjects of the social environment, as well as access to relevant educational programs that do not depend on distance, material costs and the availability of resources in a particular institution. Regulatory regulation in the field of forms of communication between convicts and the outside world and their vocational training is currently lagging behind the pace of technological development and is more focused on traditional methods of contact, and therefore it is necessary to more actively develop regulatory regulation in the field of digital forms of communication and obtaining professional education of a special agent with the external environment. The prospects for further research are as follows: quantitative assessment of the dynamics of the identified personality states of convicts with regular use of digital communications in the framework of professional training; development and implementation of practical recommendations for psychologists, educators and employees of vocational training departments of correctional institutions on the integration of digital communications into the system of rehabilitation measures.
