We present a genome assembly from an individual male Tephritis formosa (sow-thistle Tephritis ; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Tephritidae). The primary assembly has a total length of 1,825.83 megabases. Most of the primary assembly (97.22%) is scaffolded into 6 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 19.9 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
