This study analyzes the political transformation of Vlad III Tepes from a 15th-century regional ruler into a supernatural figure [1.7, 1.8]. By combining recent proteomic laboratory data with media history, the paper demonstrates how his documented medical condition—bleeding from the eyes due to hemolacria—was actively utilized as a propaganda tool by regional German poets and early printing workshops [1.7, 1.8]. We argue that this specific physical symptom offered his political opponents a concrete pretext to strip the Voivode of his noble status and present him as a moral outcast [1.7, 1.8]. This organized reputation campaign successfully neutralized his political standing, providing King Matthias Corvinus with the necessary diplomatic leverage to keep a prominent royal relative imprisoned for fourteen years without facing resistance from Western European courts [1.7, 1.8, 1.11, 1.12].
