The paper is an introductory programming exercise to learn how basic arithmetic operators, handling of user input, control statements and program structure are used in the programming language C. This calculator can perform the four basic arithmetic operations addition, subtraction, multiplication and division according to the user's selection. The project is intended for beginners who are learning how to make logical and structured programs. Though the concept of a calculator might seem basic, it’s an important stepping stone in learning how computers handle math and make decisions. It introduces the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model, a basic concept in computer science. In this project. The user enters two integers and an operator. It then does things with those inputs through logical structures. The correct output is shown depending on the operator. Study the C language syntax and semantics. Operator precedence and control flow Use switch-case statements for multiple conditions. Implement error checks, e.g. for invalid inputs, division by zero. The calculator is a simple project but it introduces students to basic programming ideas such as algorithms, decision making and optimal problem solving. Same logic applies in real life.
