“Patients with asymptomatic heart failure appear healthy, but compared with normal individuals without heart failure, they have increased EAT, increased LV myocardial volume and fibrosis volume, and decreased LV compliance. Until now, the main treatment approach for heart failure has been to slow the progression. The results of this study demonstrate that dapagliflozin administration may at least improve the myocardial state of patients with early-stage heart failure.”
“Epicardial adipose tissue is a metabolically active visceral fat depot implicated in the pathogenesis of heart failure, even at asymptomatic stages. Although SGLT2 inhibitors have demonstrated benefits in symptomatic HF, their effects on EAT and early cardiac remodeling in asymptomatic HF remains unclear.”
