This article discusses a newly published book entitled Light and Life – Images and Verse: Adventures in Creation. This is the first non-academic book in many years from Professor Michael Sankey, and it explores the relationship between image and the written word, primarily from a photographic arts-based perspective. It also looks at the interplay that using multiple forms of communication can bring and how this can increase enjoyment and, as a consequence, help form a deeper meaning than could otherwise have been created from using just one form of representation.
