Why the study?
Recurrent inappropriate ICD therapies due to supraventricular tachycardia in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy require detailed characterization.
Case Report (n=1)
This case highlights the clinical challenge of recurrent supraventricular tachycardia leading to inappropriate ICD shocks in a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
A 33-year-old male with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dual-chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) presented with recurrent device therapies. In March 2023, he experienced a supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) with 1:1 atrioventricular conduction resulting in inappropriate ICD shock therapy. The SVT burden progressively increased over time, with 8 episodes over a 4-month period, two of which resulted in inappropriate ICD shocks.
