We report a case of a 36-year-old female who was unknowingly two weeks pregnant when she underwent a unilateral DIEP reconstruction. She carried a successful pregnancy to term with no surgical or obstetric complications and minimal abdominal morbidity. Cases of successful pregnancy following a DIEP have previously been published, however this is the first case report in the literature of a DIEP reconstruction in a pregnant woman. We review the literature on pregnancy, breast cancer and reconstruction.
