Anah tar Ke li me ler: Hipertansiyon; hasta yakını; sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları; hemşirelik ABS TRACT Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the healthy lifestyle behaviors of relatives of patients diagnosed with hypertension.Material and Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out between September 2024 and February 2025 with 147 relatives of patients receiving treatment for hypertension in the intensive care units, outpatient clinics, and wards of a university hospital. The sample size was determined by power analysis (alpha=0.05,power=0.80),and participants who met the inclusion criteria were included.Necessary institutional approvals were obtained prior to the study.Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a "questionnaire form" and the "Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II (HLBS-II)".Data analysis included descriptive statistics (number, percentage, mean, standard deviation).Student's t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and correlation analyses were used to compare questionnaire data and scale total and subscale mean scores, with p<0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: The mean age of the participants was 36.73±15.68years, and the mean total HLBS-II score was 145.84±27.50.The highest mean scores were observed in the spiritual growth and interpersonal relations subscales, while the lowest mean score was found in the physical activity subscale.A weak negative correlation was found between age and physical activity; weak positive correlations were identified between height and physical activity, systolic blood pressure and nutrition, and diastolic blood pressure with health responsibility, nutrition, spiritual growth, and total scale score (p<0.05).Conclusion: The healthy lifestyle behaviors of patients' relatives were found to be at a good level; however, the physical activity subscale score was notably low.Based on this data, it can be suggested that the awareness of relatives of patients diagnosed with hypertension, especially regarding physical activity, should be increased.

Ovayolu et al. (2026) conducted a cross-sectional in Relatives of patients with hypertension (n=147). Being a relative of a patient with hypertension was evaluated on Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II (HLBS-II) total score. Relatives of patients diagnosed with hypertension demonstrated a generally good level of healthy lifestyle behaviors (mean HLBS-II score 145.84±27.50), though their physical activity subscale scores were notably low.
