Background: Deep breathing practices have been adopted worldwide due to their claimed health benefits. This study aimed to evaluate the immediate effect of deep breathing exercise (DBE) on vitals and pulmonary function in healthy young adults.Method: Forty participants aged 18-25 years were divided into two groups: Group A (experimental, DBE) and Group B (control normal breathing).Heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), oxygen saturation (SpO2), and breathhold time (BHT) were measured pre-and post-intervention.Results showed a significant reduction in RR and increase in BHT in the DBE group, while HR and SpO2 changes were not significant.Between-group analysis revealed a significant improvement in BHT in the DBE group compared to controls. Conclusion: Findings suggest that DBE has immediate beneficial effects on respiratory efficiency and breathholding capacity in healthy young adults.
