A scoping review protocol to collate and synthesise existing evidence investigating use, physiological effects and safety of pulmonary vasodilator therapy in thoracic surgical patients. This scoping review forms part of a wider project which is working towards a pathway to a clinical trial of pulmonary vasodilators in thoracic surgery. The overall aim is to protect the right ventricle perioperatively and improve postoperative patient outcomes.
