In recent years, carbon nanotube (CNT) composite aerogel materials have shown great potential in the field of electrochemistry due to their unique physicochemical properties. The composite not only has a porous structure but also has high conductivity by incorporating CNT. Despite the growing interest, there remains a lack of systematic reviews on CNT composite aerogels that specifically address performance optimization for specific electrochemical applications. Herein, different types of composites and their roles in electrochemical technology are first reviewed. Then, the significance of adding CNT in improving the properties of composite aerogels and the synthesis methods are outlined. Finally, recent advancements in CNT composite aerogels in electrochemical applications, including electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction, water electrolysis for hydrogen production, fuel cells, electrochemical sensors, and supercapacitors, are summarized. This review aims to provide a timely and coherent perspective on CNT composite aerogels for electrochemical applications and to inspire innovative material design.
