This article explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in contemporary animation workflows through the analysis of two applied case studies, both directed by the author within the Chilean creative studio Poston Digital Arts. The first case examines the production of an animated title sequence for the science fiction film Affinity, while the second analyzes the development of a commercial spot for the Mortal Kombat x Saucony product collaboration. Both projects involve hybrid production pipelines that combine AI-based tools, such as generative image models, AI-driven motion capture, and AI-assisted storyboarding, with traditional animation techniques. Through comparative analysis, this article identifies advantages in production efficiency, creative iteration, and visual output quality while also recognizing limitations and risks associated with the use of AI. Key findings include the shifting roles within animation teams, the emergence of new professional profiles (such as AI operators and prompt engineers), and the continued importance of human artistic direction. The discussion concludes that AI, when properly integrated, serves as a powerful creative accelerator without replacing the essential role of human oversight, and its use requires conscious management to avoid risks, such as aesthetic homogenization and the erosion of foundational artistic skills.
