Myotis auriculus Baker & Stains, 1955 is a poorly known bat species distributed in the south-western United States to south-central Mexico and Guatemala, mainly in pine and pine–oak forests. Here, we report the first confirmed record of this species of bat from Temascaltepec, State of Mexico. We review all previous records and generate a habitat suitability map using MaxEnt. The model includes the predicted range to Oaxaca and Chiapas in Mexico and confirms areas of high habitat suitability in central México and Central America (Guatemala and Honduras). This discovery highlights the need for further research on poorly known species and their vulnerable ecosystems, with implications for biodiversity and conservation in the region.
