Gross extraction yield alone cannot establish product conformity or broader economic and environmental performance. This critical integrative review examines evidence linking laboratory findings to industrially relevant claims for plant-derived bioproduct valorization. It synthesizes seven evidence streams and proposes specification-adjusted route accounting, connecting route identity, output states, and claim-specific requirements. Selected elements were illustrated retrospectively using 17 purposively selected evidence packages. Artemisinin retention decreased from 90.0% after maceration to 37.3% after crystallization on the same initial artemisinin basis. Higher grapefruit-pectin yield accompanied changes in product properties without establishing functional equivalence. Red-grape-pomace economic preference depended on price assumptions. For microencapsulated pomegranate-peel extract powder, the highest deterministic net present value and highest probability of a positive net present value occurred in different modeled scale scenarios. Its separately scoped life cycle assessment identified freeze-drying as a hotspot without establishing comparative environmental improvement. No selected package provided verifiable observed-displacement evidence at the documented access level. The framework distinguishes supported conclusions from unresolved requirements; the cases illustrate its logic rather than validate its performance. Purposive selection, limited source access, and single-author assessment constrain interpretation. Independent and prospective evaluation is needed before reproducibility or decision benefits can be established.
