Recent records of Carcharias taurus in the Mediterranean Sea remain extremely scarce, highlighting the rarity of the species in the region. In this study, we report a recent photographic record from the eastern Mediterranean coast of Türkiye, supported by video-derived imagery and diagnostic morphological features, and tentatively identified as C. taurus. The record contributes to the limited number of documented occurrences of the species in the basin. Although not based on a voucher specimen, this finding highlights the value of carefully evaluated citizen-generated visual data as supplementary evidence for documenting rare elasmobranch species.
