A novel system for phased missions is designed in this work, integrating bidirectional transmission units and common bus performance sharing mechanism. The common bus performance sharing system includes four types of components, namely the capacity component, the energy consumption component, the energy storage component, and the bidirectional transmission component. The capacity can be shared across the common bus. The system remains functional only if its capacity supply matches or exceeds demand. Two cases are considered according to whether the component states change over time and whether the capacities of the bidirectional transmission components are constrained. In Case 1, the state distributions of the components are stationary, whereas in Case 2, the capacities of the bidirectional transmission components are limited and the component states change over time. A co‐optimization framework is proposed to simultaneously optimize bidirectional component numbers and energy storage capacity. With the dual objectives of cost minimization, the framework ensures electric vehicle battery protection and maintains practical service readiness. The Markov process and universal generating function technique (UGF) are applied to derive the reliability indices.
