The Family of Tietz Potentials

We show that several potential-energy functions based on the exponential function \(e^{- {α r}}\), \(α > 0\), are either equivalent or identical to the Tietz potential. Some of those potentials exhibit redundant parameters that can be removed without affecting their performance for the description of the vibration-rotation spectra of diatomic molecules.
