A 4‐year‐old intact female African pygmy hedgehog ( Atelerix albiventris ) was evaluated for a chronic subcutaneous mass overlying the mammary region and suspected reproductive disease. Abdominal ultrasonography identified a hypoechogenic subcutaneous nodule, mild uterine thickening and diffuse hepatic hyperechogenicity. Preoperative clinicopathological testing revealed mild hypercalcaemia, eosinophilia and monocytosis without evidence of systemic compromise. The patient underwent ovariohysterectomy and surgical excision of the mass. Histopathology was most consistent with cutaneous epithelioid haemangiosarcoma, characterised by infiltrative growth, high mitotic activity and narrow surgical margins. Despite these aggressive histological features, no clinical or radiographic evidence of local recurrence or metastasis was identified during follow‐up. Necropsy was not performed, so occult disease could not be excluded. Hedgehog remained clinically free of detectable disease and survived approximately 21 months after surgery.
