A CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 perovskite film was prepared by liquid-phase dispersion and deposition and employed as a saturable absorber in a Tm:YAP laser operating near 2 μm. Power-dependent transmittance measurements near 2 μm gave a modulation depth of 3.11 %, a saturation intensity of 304.9 kW cm −2 , and a non-saturable loss of 9.51 %. Laser performance was investigated using output-coupler transmissions of 1.5 % and 2.5 %. With a 2.5 % output coupler and 6.26 W of absorbed pump power, the passively Q-switched laser delivered a maximum average output power of 801 mW, a maximum repetition rate of 126.95 kHz, and a minimum pulse duration of 692.57 ns. The corresponding single-pulse energy and peak power were 6.31 μJ and 9.11 W, respectively. These results demonstrate the feasibility of CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 for high-repetition-rate pulse modulation near 2 μm.
