IgA Pemphigus in a Patient With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( SLE ): A Novel Association, With Combined Epidermal Intercellular IgA and Nuclear IgG Deposition on Skin Direct Immunofluorescence

We describe the novel occurrence of IgA pemphigus in a patient with long-standing systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SLE can be associated with the development of other autoimmune conditions, including cutaneous immunobullous disorders. To our knowledge, the co-occurrence of IgA pemphigus and SLE has not been previously reported in the literature. Potential common pathophysiological mechanisms are discussed.
