In this study, poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) fibers were used as the drug carrier system for the release of dexketoprofen trometamol (DKT). PCL fibers containing DKT were prepared by electrospinning and hyaluronic acid (HA) was coated to the fibers after electrospinning by dropping. The fibers were examined using Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR) analysis to examine their structural properties and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for their morphological properties. Different amounts of HA were dropped onto the fibers and the effect of HA on drug release rates was examined. In the study, glutaraldehyde (GLU) was used as a cross-linker in amounts of 1, 10, and 20% (w/v), and the addition of glutaraldehyde increases drug release rates. In drug release studies, it has been observed that PCL, HA and GLU ratios affect drug release properties. Zero order, first order, Higuchi, and Korsmeyer–Peppas drug release kinetic models were used to examine the drug release mechanism from all fibers. It was observed that the drug release profiles conformed to the Higuchi and Korsmeyer–Peppas models in terms of correlation coefficients (R2).
