A DC-link voltage stability enhancement control strategy is proposed for direct-drive wind turbines under symmetrical grid voltage sags to improve DC-link voltage dynamics and reduce the risk of turbine disconnection caused by DC-link instability. The strategy first develops a composite controller with hierarchical compensation of internal and external disturbances, which enhances dq -axis current decoupling and improves the dynamic regulation capability of the DC-link voltage under voltage sag conditions. Furthermore, during voltage sag conditions, the DC-link voltage reference is coordinately adjusted together with the machine-side active power reference, so that the DC capacitor can be actively utilized to buffer the transient power imbalance caused by the inertia of the machine-side converter active power response, thereby suppressing DC-link voltage fluctuations. Real-time simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach enhances DC-link voltage dynamics during voltage sags, improving the operational stability of the wind turbine.
