This study analyses the age structure of the population and its recent evolution from a geographical perspective. This is achieved through an original method that enables highly sensitive identification of similarities among local age profiles. The results of the analysis reveal three distinct geographies of age structure in Türkiye: (1) child‐dominant profiles, (2) the transition belt where adults dominate and (3) areas where seniors are overrepresented. While some of these follow the usual courses of demographic transition, others tend towards a leapfrogging transition. In the conclusion, we assert that the age‐structure profiles of Türkiye and the differentiations they have undergone are connected to local specificities. Finally, with this study, we stress the necessity of spatial prioritisation in policies and service provision geared towards specific age groups.
