The ability to understand the concept of fractions is a fundamental competency that is very important for fourth-grade elementary school students. However, many students still struggle to understand this concept due to differences in their prior knowledge that cannot be adequately accommodated by traditional teaching methods. This study aims to describe how to implement the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach to improve students’ understanding of fractions among 36 fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Pasalakan. The study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research method over two cycles, and data were collected through observation, achievement tests, and documentation. As a result, the class average score and the students’ mastery rate increased gradually, from 62 (42.9%) in the pre-cycle phase to 71 (67.9%) in the first cycle, and rose again to 82 (89.3%) in the second cycle exceeding the 85% target thus proving that the TaRL approach successfully improved learning outcomes in the topic of fractions.
