Tennis has a high level of difficulty for beginners due to complex hand-eye coordination and fast ball speed. The Play-and-Stay approach using low-compression balls is designed to overcome learning barriers by slowing down ball speed and lowering bounce height. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Play-and-Stay approach based on low-compression ball modification on improving rally ability and learning acceleration in novice college students taking the Basic Tennis course. This study used a pre-experimental design with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design on a sample of 24 physical education students selected via purposive sampling. The instrument used was the Hewitt Tennis Test (Rally Test) to measure rally consistency and stroke accuracy. Data were analyzed using Paired Sample t-test and N-Gain Score calculation. The results showed a significant increase in rally ability after the implementation of the Play-and-Stay approach (p < 0.05) with a high N-Gain effectiveness category. In conclusion, the Play-and-Stay approach with low-compression balls is highly effective in accelerating basic tennis learning for adult beginners.
