Some alternative natural therapeutic agents have a significant role in accelerating the healing of wounded skin to minimize potential complications such as infection and to improve the process of regeneration. An experimental study was conducted on seventy male rats divided equally into five groups and sustained circular skin wounds, only four groups were treated with Aloe vera gel, stem cells, chitosan and hyaluronic acid respectively. The assessment of the healing acceleration process underwent several diverse techniques. After precise follow-up and measurement of the induced wound diameters on the third, seventh and fourteenth days, as well as the immunohistochemistry and histopathological evaluation, results of Improved healing process in treated groups were fully demonstrated and expressed through photomicrographs and charts of pathological alterations, some tissue growth markers and immune markers in fixed tissue. Our wound contraction rate measurements showed that the stem cells treated—group led on the third and seventh days, followed by the chitosan—treated, group with no significant difference. However, the chitosan-treated group outperformed all other experimental groups by the fourteenth day. Both tissue growth markers and immune markers on the fourteenth day showed the highest values in chitosan treated group followed by the stem cells—treated group.
