This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Dance Art learning for class IX.1 at SMP Islam Terpadu Budi Mulia Padang, focusing on the suitability of planning, implementation, and evaluation with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was used, with the Dance Art teacher of class IX.1 as the primary data source. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, teaching module document analysis, and documentation, then processed through data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that: (1) lesson planning through the teaching module generally aligns with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, although the Creating element of the learning outcomes was not explicitly stated; (2) implementation followed a Project Based Learning (PjBL) model across three meetings, engaging students in observing, discussing, designing, and performing a group creative dance work, although the three-meeting time allocation was not yet sufficient for the ideal PjBL stages, and some male students showed limited confidence; and (3) evaluation was carried out through diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, with 95% of students achieving mastery on the theoretical aspect but only 65% on the practical aspect. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Dance Art learning has generally been consistent with its guiding principles, while time allocation and equitable student participation remain aspects that require further attention.
