Contractualisation of Library Personnel: Compromising the Core

Contractualisation of library staff threatens the foundation of an academic institution in India. While the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 expects adequate staffing and sustainable career pathways for Library Professionals, fiscal constraints and establishment–based funding under public library governance have encouraged academic and public administrations to rely increasingly on short-term and temporary appointments. It further argues for the equity and long-term flexibility of India’s Knowledge environments.
