Thermoplastic elastomers are increasingly selected for products in which flexibility must coexist with efficient thermoplastic processing. In cable jackets, connector strain reliefs, soft-touch parts and overmolded interfaces, however, the generic label TPE is not an engineering specification. Successful performance depends on the interaction among polymer family, compound formulation, substrate compatibility, geometry, processing temperature, moisture, shear history, aging conditions and quality control. This paper examines these interactions through an application-engineering perspective centered on Dongguan Renergy Plastic Technology Co., Ltd. The company's publicly described platform includes TPE families such as TPS, TPV, TPU, TPEE, TPA and TPO, together with PVC, engineering plastics, customized formulation, prototyping, injection-molding support and quality-control services. Rather than treating these capabilities as a product catalog, the paper develops a structured method for selecting and validating elastomer systems for cables, connectors and overmolded components. Particular attention is given to material-family selection, adhesion at polymer-polymer interfaces, extrusion and injection-molding process windows, failure analysis, qualification testing and the transfer from sample approval to repeatable production. The review proposes an Application-to-Validation Chain that connects functional requirements to material family, interface design, process control and production validation. The central argument is that a reliable TPE solution is created not by maximizing a single property but by balancing the complete system in which the polymer will be manufactured and used.
