The rapid integration of artificial intelligence into financial services presents a transformative opportunity to advance sustainability goals, yet a systematic understanding of its current state and impact is essential. This review aims to synthesize existing literature on AI applications within the financial sector, emphasizing their role in promoting sustainability and environmental, social, and governance principles. The study screened 3507 articles published in ABS‐ranked journals between 2020 and 2025 on AI and sustainability, narrowing the sample to a core corpus of 181 articles for mixed‐method analysis combining bibliometric techniques with Python‐based data analytics. Synthesized findings reveal significant research prevalence across AI sub‐domains such as machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing within sustainable finance contexts. Although literature supports the potential of AI to act both as an enabler of financial inclusion and as a tool for environmental impact assessment, variations in study contexts suggest a need for further standardized research to fully quantify its long‐term efficacy.
