This article examines the extent to which the currently available evidence satisfies the normative requirements for a potential application to register the service of collection and valorization of recyclable and organic materials of Santa Terezinha de Itaipu (PR, Brazil) as an Indication of Provenance. Brazilian law admits geographical indications for services and, in the current INPI list consulted, Porto Digital (Recife) remains the Brazilian GI registration specifically designated for service provision. The methodology was qualitative and legal-documentary, based on the analysis of the Geographical Indications Manual and INPI Ordinance No. 04/2022, on a delimited bibliographic and documentary survey, and on comparison with the Porto Digital case. The results, organized in a requirement-evidence-gap normative matrix, indicate preliminary compatible elements with the requirements of notoriety (documentary evidence of awards, publications and institutional recognition, pending audit of independence and specific linkage to the service), territorial delimitation (potentially satisfiable, dependent on an official instrument) and applicant legitimacy (the waste pickers' association constitutes a potential candidate as procedural substitute, conditioned on demonstrating representativeness). The Technical Specifications Book and the control mechanism have not yet been formalized. It is concluded that registration feasibility remains conditioned on additional documentary and institutional proof, without prejudging the INPI's decision.
