This article examines the ecological role, morphological characteristics, and relationship with the rhizosphere microbiota of nematodes of the genus Panagrolaimus found in the soil surrounding the roots of dog rose (Rosa canina L.) in the Surkhandarya region. The study analyzes the involvement of bacterivorous nematodes in microbiological processes associated with the decomposition of organic residues, the criteria for distinguishing them from plant parasites, and the influence of sampling conditions on diagnostic results. It is established that the identification of representatives of this genus does not constitute direct evidence of damage to the plant. Separate examination of the outer surface of dog rose roots and the rhizosphere soil is shown to improve the accuracy of ecological interpretation.
