The article analyzes the criteria for assessing the nematode community associated with the roots and rhizosphere of dog rose (Rosa canina L.) in Surkhandarya Region as a bioindicator of soil ecological conditions. The functional differences among bacterivores, fungivores, plant feeders, predators, and omnivores, as well as the conditions for applying the community maturity index and food web indices, are examined. Based on faunistic records, the methodological distinction between detecting a particular species and quantitatively confirming soil health or plant damage is clarified. A standardized procedure for sampling, morphological diagnosis, and taxonomic confirmation is proposed. This approach can be applied to monitoring the condition of natural dog rose stands and distinguishing phytosanitary risks from the overall ecological condition.
