A monitoring approach based on the separate examination of nematodes in roots and rhizosphere soil was developed to assess the phytosanitary condition of dog rose (Rosa canina L.) seedlings in the Surkhandarya region. The study analyzes the differentiation of plant-parasitic nematodes inhabiting or feeding on root tissues from free-living forms in the soil, documentation of sample origin, comparison of morphological diagnosis with symptoms, and interpretation of results according to risk levels. Diagnosis is based on a comprehensive assessment of root changes, the nematode’s feeding apparatus, the distribution of individuals, and repeated observations. As a result, systematic diagnostic criteria are presented to support the selection of healthy planting material in nurseries, early identification of infestation sources, and targeted organization of subsequent examinations.
