This article examines the legal challenges and prospects for the digitalization of state veterinary control (supervision) in the Russian Federation. Digitalization of veterinary control (supervision) significantly impacts the rationale for measures taken to protect citizens from substandard agricultural products, the epizootic situation in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and the overall effectiveness of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance. The authors analyze the functions of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in organizing the work of state veterinary services in rural areas. Based on an analysis of the regulatory framework, the functioning of federal state information systems, and modern digital technologies, the authors substantiate the importance of transitioning to electronic veterinary accompanying documents, integrating information platforms, and implementing artificial intelligence tools to improve the effectiveness of control and supervision activities. Particular attention is paid to ensuring food security, product traceability, combating counterfeiting, as well as the organizational and personnel challenges associated with the digitalization of state veterinary control. The authors conclude that the development of a unified digital ecosystem in the field of veterinary supervision helps reduce administrative barriers, increase transparency and efficiency in management decision-making, and strengthen national security in the agroindustrial complex.
