The article theoretically substantiates the scientific and pedagogical foundations of preparing qualified handball players for competition within a long-term sports training system. Competitive performance in modern handball is considered as the result of an integrated interaction between physical, functional, technical-tactical, psychological, and cognitive preparedness. Based on contemporary research, the paper discusses position-specific individualization, regulation of training load and recovery, competition-oriented planning of microcycles and mesocycles, modelling of game situations, and the use of pedagogical and functional monitoring. Particular attention is paid to strength and plyometric preparation, repeated high-intensity actions, jumping and throwing performance, rational reduction of training volume before competition, and exercise-based injury prevention. The proposed approach views long-term preparation as an integrated pedagogical system aimed at maintaining stable sport performance.
