As risk assessment practices increase the incorporation of new approach methodologies (NAMs), there is a global need for a centralized repository of validated alternative test methods to support the transition toward reduced animal use. The Collection of Alternative Methods for Regulatory Application (CAMERA) is a public, online resource which aims to consolidate validated NAMs into a single platform, improving the accessibility of methods and their underlying validation data that was previously scattered across multiple agencies and organizational websites by integrating study reports, protocols, performance data, and regulatory guidance into a unified interface. Additionally, using standardized ontology vocabulary and large language models to identify validated NAMs capable of measuring the key events (KEs) of OECD endorsed adverse outcome pathways (AOPs), CAMERA is a resource capable of aiding risk assessment where the domain of applicability for a given KE or AOP are in scope. While CAMERA provides an efficient, user-friendly platform that enhances access to validated and qualified NAMs, the database remains ever-green; updating user functionality through the addition of new features and NAMs. Ongoing development will expand method domains, strengthen interoperability with other databases such as the NIH Integrated Chemical Environment (NICE) and the AOP Wiki, integrate new tools for enhanced interactive capabilities, and continue to integrate user feedback to strengthen CAMERA’s utility.Information technology service associated with this project was provided under contract 75N93025F00252.
