The Diyarbakır City Walls, which surround the historical city center and roughly reached their current boundaries in the 4th century, are a structure of strategic importance that bears the traces of many civilizations throughout history. The walls have taken on many roles such as the military defense, governance, order, and social organization of the city. Over the course of history, the walls have been damaged due to various factors, and repair works have been carried out during different periods to address these damages. Within the scope of this study, construction inspection records from 1812 to 1911 were examined to identify the damages that occurred on the walls and to determine the conservation approach of the period to these damages. In the documents, answers are sought to questions about which bastions of the Diyarbakır City Walls were repaired, who was involved in the repair process, the sources of financing for the repairs, and the expenditure documents. In conclusion, this study has provided technical information on the restoration of the walls and has brought to light many issues that were previously unaddressed or inaccurately recorded. The data obtained will contribute to more informed and effective decision-making in conservation processes, thereby significantly supporting the sustainability of the Diyarbakır City Walls as a cultural heritage site.
