A novel cyclic chalcone analogue, (E)-6-((4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1-oxo-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-2(1H)-ylidene)methyl)-3-methylbenzo[d]oxazol-2(3H)-one (3), was synthesized by acid-catalyzed condensation of 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1-tetralone (1) with 3-methyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydrobenzo[d]oxazole-6-carbaldehyde (2) using the SOCl2/EtOH catalytic system. The structure of the newly synthesized compound was confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). Compound 3 incorporates a sertraline-related 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)tetralin framework and a benzoxazolinone scaffold within a single molecular structure.
