The article deals with the phenomenon of alternative spirituality and in connection with it asks the question of why Christians should be interested in alternative spirituality. It presents three possible perspectives on alternative spirituality that Christians should reflect on in view of their responsibility for today’s world, solidarity with the entire human family, but also the need for a critical attitude towards undesirable development trends. In this context, it first deals with alternative spirituality as a desire for deeper spirituality, for meaning. It then presents the concept of alternative spirituality as an engaged spirituality and finally deals with the phenomenon of conspirituality. The article also demonstrates in what sense these three perspectives on alternative spirituality can be regarded as signs of the times for the Church.
