This study aims to analyze the concept of khalifah fil ardh as a foundation for environmental education from an Islamic perspective and its relevance to educational development. This study employed a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach by examining scientific literature on khalifah fil ardh, Islamic environmental ethics, ecological values, environmental education, and its implementation in educational institutions, analyzed through thematic synthesis. The findings show that khalifah fil ardh positions humans as trustees responsible for protecting and preserving the earth, encompassing values of amanah, responsibility, justice, mizan, maslahah, and the prohibition of israf and fasad, which can be internalized through learning, habituation, exemplary practices, environmental management, and institutional culture. The novelty of this study lies in synthesizing normative-legal and philosophical-spiritual foundations with pedagogical and institutional practices within a single conceptual framework, positioning khalifah fil ardh not only as a basis for environmental ethics but also as a philosophical and pedagogical foundation for Islamic environmental education.
