Prospects for social development and progress are determined by the quality of the population's social health. In a highly risky environment, social anxiety is growing, and the population's social health is at risk. Considering social health as a complex phenomenon, it is important to emphasize the influence of its component, social security. Security promotes the development of social ties and relationships, strengthens trust, and facilitates self-realization. Therefore, social security management is becoming an important area of social policy development. This article presents a methodology for managing social security as an indicator of the population's social health. The authors have developed a criteria model – a basic set of criteria and indicators – and outlined their impact on the state of social security to ensure the sustainability of social health indicators. The purpose of this article is to specify a methodology for studying the concept of "social security management" and the criteria for assessing its status. The scientific significance of this study lies in its systematization of approaches to defining social security; the construction of a criteria model for assessing and monitoring its status; and the theoretical clarification of the structure of social security management. The conclusions reached in this article contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the fields of management sociology and security sociology. The practical significance of the study lies in the potential application of the obtained results and conclusions to Russian practice in managing social security, the social health of the population, and other social phenomena and processes.
