Background : While the majority of alpacas and llamas are kept in South America, the popularity of South American camelids continues to rise in many other countries. Knowledge about husbandry and veterinary care varies among owners, but an increased demand for general and specialised ophthalmological veterinary care exists. It is important for general practitioners to have a basic knowledge of common ocular diseases and be familiar with the treatment options. This article, the second in a two‐part series on camelid eyes, covers common anatomical findings, ophthalmic diseases, diagnostics and treatment modalities for camelids. Part 1, which was published in the previous issue of In Practice , covered the ophthalmic examination and specific considerations for camelids. Aim of the article : This article aims to provide a guide and summarises recent literature regarding common camelid ophthalmic anatomic features, ophthalmic diseases, diagnostics and treatment modalities.
