This article examines Khayriddin Sulton’s novel Yaldo kechasi (2025) based on Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of the chronotope. It explores the chronotopic nature of the image of “night” in the title; the organization of historical time, spanning from the late nineteenth century to 1924, through generational time; the ideological significance of the spaces of Margilan, the school, exile, and the river; and the relationship between “chronicle time,” introduced through documentary texts, and the time of artistic narration.
